The Kerr-McGee oil drilling rig was drilling a test well 19 miles northwest of Key West.

Vance C. Stirrup was installed as president of the Key West Shrine Club in the annual banquet held at the Jack Tar Hotel in Marathon.

Compton H. Norton completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

100 YEARS AGO

Walter Goodenough, consulting engineer, examined the Key West Electric Co. plant and was pleased with the condition and the service which it was giving.

The social season ended with the last dance of the Monday Night Club at the La Brisa. About 25 couples participated, and it was a most enjoyable occasion.
